Watch the recording: Closing the digital gap across Scotland’s new regional NHS Boards

26/10/2026

As health and social care in Scotland moves towards two strategic regional NHS Boards, significant regional variation in digital maturity is a major challenge. Scotland West currently leads in every measured domain, while Scotland East has clear progress to make.

Variation on this scale makes national digital integration harder, widens health inequalities and gets in the way of seamless care. The reform aims to create a more integrated, efficient and sustainable system that can meet rising demand, changing population needs and financial pressures, while supporting staff and speeding up digital transformation. To get there, we need to understand the root causes of regional variation.

In this interactive session, we broke down the comparative data, discussed what is driving the differences, and looked at how better alignment can speed up equitable digital transformation before the gap widens.

Why watch:

Bridging this divide needs coordinated action across strategic, technical and operational leadership. The session is for cross-functional teams who want to:

  • Understand the immediate threats and opportunities in the regional digital landscape
  • Build models to identify the barriers and enablers affecting their region’s progress
  • Benchmark their organisation against national data and learn which proven interventions can close the gap

Watch the recording now to gain practical insights, tackle risk head-on and help shape an equitable, resilient digital care system for all of Scotland.
